Vasiliy Lomachenko Targets Charly Suarez for Comeback

Vasiliy Lomachenko has named Charly Suarez as his likely comeback opponent, with a return potentially coming later this year. The Ukrainian also wants to face O’Shaquie Foster in a possible undisputed title fight at 130 pounds.

Lomachenko Names Suarez as Likely Opponent

Speaking with Fight Hub TV, Lomachenko identified the 38-year-old Filipino contender as the expected opponent for his next outing. The bout has not been confirmed.

Lomachenko has not fought since May 2024, when he stopped George Kambosos Jr. in the 11th round to win the vacant IBF lightweight title. He has since indicated a move down from lightweight to super-featherweight. At 135 pounds, he lost unanimous decisions to Teofimo Lopez in 2020 and Devin Haney in 2023.

Suarez is coming off an eighth-round no contest against Emanuel Navarrete in May 2025.

Foster’s Title Run at 130 Pounds

Foster strengthened his position at super-featherweight this weekend by defeating Navarrete. The WBC champion scored two knockdowns in the 12th round and won on points, adding Navarrete’s IBF and WBO belts.

A fight with Lomachenko could become an undisputed clash, but Foster must first face the winner of Anthony Cacace vs Nick Ball for the WBA title. That bout is scheduled for December 19.

Lomachenko’s return against Suarez is described as likely, not confirmed. Cacace vs Ball is scheduled for December 19.
