O’Shaquie Foster Wants Undisputed Run Before Shakur Stevenson

O’Shaquie Foster says he plans to pursue the undisputed super-featherweight title before moving up to face Shakur Stevenson, after beating Emanuel Navarrete in Texas this weekend to add the IBF and WBO belts to his WBC title.

Foster spent 12 rounds countering Navarrete’s pressure, then sent him to the canvas twice in the final round. The win strengthened Foster’s case as one of boxing’s top pound-for-pound fighters, following a career turnaround after early defeats.

Foster Targets the Undisputed Super-Featherweight Title

Foster has repeatedly called for a bout with Stevenson, a former sparring partner. But after the Navarrete fight, he said his immediate aim is to complete his work at 130 pounds.

“I want to go undisputed, man,” Foster said. He described that goal as his dream and said he wants to make history. He had viewed a Stevenson fight as his biggest target after beating Ray Ford, but now wants to become undisputed first.

Foster’s route to that goal could involve the winner of Anthony Cacace and Nick Ball. They are scheduled to meet in December for Cacace’s WBA belt.

Stevenson Has Options at Lightweight and 140 Pounds

Stevenson gave up his WBC lightweight title earlier this year before moving to 140 pounds and beating Teofimo Lopez. He has since said he will consider fights in both divisions, leaving open the possibility of a future bout with Foster.
