Skye Nicolson Still Pursuing Amanda Serrano Fight
Skye Nicolson says she will keep pursuing Amanda Serrano while preparing to defend her WBC super-bantamweight title on November 8.

Skye Nicolson says she will keep pursuing a fight with Amanda Serrano, even as she prepares to defend her WBC super-bantamweight title against Miyo Yoshida on November 8 in Arlington, Texas. Nicolson says Serrano’s career may be nearing its end, making the long-sought matchup feel less likely.
Nicolson Keeps Calling for Serrano
Nicolson has sought a fight with Serrano for years, including while holding the featherweight title. The two-weight world champion said she has not stopped trying to make the bout, though she acknowledged that Serrano’s next fight or two could be among the last of her career.
Serrano is expected to hold a major press conference next week, with retirement a possibility. Nicolson said she remains hopeful but recognises that the decision about what comes next belongs to Serrano.
Nicolson also said she does not consider the history between them a feud. She said her calls for a fight were about facing the champion in her division, not personal animosity. Nicolson suggested Serrano may have taken those public challenges personally, but said she has no bad blood toward her.
Serrano’s Recent Fight and Nicolson’s Next Defense
Serrano’s most recent bout was against Lucrecia Anabella Manzur. She went into the fight as a heavy favorite and had intended to break the women’s boxing knockout record she shares with Christy Martin. Her performance was described as below expectations, and some observers believed she was fortunate to get the decision.
Nicolson has competed under Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing for her professional career. She is now fighting on Most Valuable Promotions through a strategic partnership. Her immediate assignment is a WBC belt defense at super-bantamweight, after moving on from her earlier pursuit of Serrano at featherweight.
Nicolson’s November 8 bout with Yoshida is the next confirmed fight for her. She says she will continue to pursue Serrano, but the matchup has not been announced.
