Ryan Garcia Sets Floyd Mayweather February 6 Deadline

Ryan Garcia has challenged Floyd Mayweather to commit to a February 6, 2027, fight, saying he will compete on that date with or without the retired boxer. Garcia made the demand in a post on X, claiming Mayweather contacted him about the matchup. No agreement has been announced.

Garcia's February 6 ultimatum

Garcia says the date is firm and that Mayweather must act if he wants the fight. He described the matchup as significant, but his post did not establish that both sides have agreed to terms. The date had already been discussed for Garcia’s February return before his latest message.

Mayweather’s name and unbeaten record would give Garcia a major commercial opponent. Garcia has also presented the chance to hand Mayweather his first professional defeat as a central draw. But the source of that attention is not the same as a win over a top fighter in his prime: Mayweather would be 49 on February 6 and nearing his 50th birthday.

Teofimo Lopez also in the picture

Teofimo Lopez has been mentioned as another possibility for Garcia’s return. Garcia’s public deadline therefore puts pressure on Mayweather while signaling that Garcia has an alternative if the bout does not come together.

The promotion’s championship framing would not change the distinction between beating a famous former champion and defeating an elite active opponent, the report argues. Garcia can pursue the biggest commercial fight available, while fans can judge what a win over a retired star would mean competitively.

For now, the February 6 date is Garcia’s stated plan, not a confirmed Mayweather fight. He says he intends to box that day whether Mayweather accepts or another opponent gets the opportunity.
