Farid Basharat's Manager Denies Fight Refusal Claims

UFC's Comments on Basharat's Release

At UFC Edmonton on October 17, UFC President Dana White addressed the decision not to re-sign bantamweight Farid Basharat. White indicated that when fighters' contracts expire, there can be various reasons behind the decision, including potential issues with the fighters themselves or their willingness to accept fights. He noted that a fighter with Basharat's record of 16-0 and seven wins in the UFC not being re-signed suggests there might be underlying reasons.

Manager Ali Abdelaziz Responds

In response to White's comments, Basharat's manager, Ali Abdelaziz of Dominance MMA, clarified that Basharat did not refuse any fight offers. He emphasized that Basharat has consistently accepted every opponent presented to him, including a bout in 2024 against an overweight opponent. Abdelaziz believes Basharat remains one of the top fighters and was on track for a title shot, capable of competing with anyone in the top 15.

Basharat's UFC Record

Basharat has maintained an undefeated record of 16-0, winning all seven of his UFC bouts but failing to secure a finish, which some speculate may have influenced the UFC's decision. Earlier this year, Basharat's brother, Javid, was released after completing his contract and has since signed with the PFL.
