Amiran Gogoladze defeated Jessin Ayari by unanimous decision to win the vacant welterweight title at OKTAGON 96 on Saturday, October 31, at SAP Garden in Munich. All three judges scored the main event 49-46 for Gogoladze, who recovered after Ayari dropped him in the opening round and took control with technical striking.
Gogoladze rallies to beat Ayari
Ayari hurt Gogoladze early and put him on the canvas, but Gogoladze worked his way back into the contest. He gradually shifted the fight with his striking and earned scores of 49-46 from each judge.
The victory makes Gogoladze the promotion’s third Georgian champion. Ayari leaves without the vacant belt after a competitive start to the five-round fight.
Paradeiser and Todev earn decisions
Ronald Paradeiser beat Tyron Pfeifer by unanimous decision in the welterweight co-main event. Each judge scored it 30-27 for Paradeiser, who returned to the win column after 15 minutes. The result was a setback for Pfeifer, who entered with an 8-2 record.
At heavyweight, Lazar Todev edged Simon Biyong by split decision. Two judges scored the fight 29-28 for Todev, while the third gave Biyong a 29-28 card. Todev was more active on the feet and used movement to maintain distance, according to the report.
After the fight, Todev called for a rematch with heavyweight champion Will Fleury. Fleury appeared to accept the challenge on social media, but no bout date was reported.
